Knockout 450 Herbicide (Glyphosate 450g/L) KNOCKOUT-450 Conquest Crop Protection

Description

Knockout 450 Glyphosate Herbicide: Broad-Spectrum Non-Selective Weed Control

Knockout 450 Herbicide delivers reliable, non-selective weed control across a wide range of annual and perennial weed species. Its active constituent, 450 g/L Glyphosate present as the isopropylamine salt, works as a translocated Group M herbicide, absorbing through foliage and green stems before moving into the root system to kill the whole plant. Conquest Crop Protection Pty Ltd formulates this product for use in Australian cropping, pasture, and non-agricultural situations where broad-spectrum knockdown is required before crop establishment, pasture renovation, or general weed management.

Knockout 450 carries no residual soil activity. This makes it suitable for use before sowing virtually any crop, and across fallow ground where a clean seedbed is the goal. It mixes readily with water and pairs with a non-ionic surfactant to improve coverage and efficacy, particularly at high water rates or low product rates.

What Weeds Does Knockout 450 Control?

Knockout 450 controls a broad range of emerged annual and perennial weeds, including Annual Ryegrass, Barley Grass, Silvergrass, Capeweed, Sowthistle, Saffron Thistle, Wild Mustard, Wild Oats, Barnyard Grass, Scotch Thistle, and Winter Grass. It also controls difficult perennial species, including Couch, Johnson Grass, Water Couch, Skeleton Weed, Soursob, Sorrel, Phalaris, Plantain, and Dock. Nutgrass receives seasonal suppression only at the listed rates (see Host & Pest tab).

Where Can I Use Knockout 450?

Use Situation Application Method
Crop establishment (fallow, pre-sowing) Ground, aerial
Pasture renovation and topping Ground, aerial
Cereals, canola, sorghum, cotton Ground, shielded sprayer
Forestry (site prep, established tree areas) Directed, wiper
Rights of way, industrial and commercial areas Ground
Dry drains, dam margins, channels Ground

How long before I can sow after spraying Knockout 450?

In most situations, sowing can start as early as one day after application if weed density is low and the soil is friable. Where weed density is high, delay sowing until dead material has decayed sufficiently to avoid blocking crop emergence.

Does glyphosate leave soil residues?

No. Knockout 450 provides no residual soil activity. It binds rapidly to soil particles and will not affect germinating crops.

Can rain affect results?

Rain within 6 hours of application may reduce effectiveness. Rainfall within 2 hours may require a repeat treatment. Do not spray plants wet with dew if water runoff occurs when plants are disturbed.

Is Knockout 450 compatible with other herbicides?

Yes. It tank-mixes with 2,4-D Ester, Dicamba 200g/L, metsulfuron methyl, chlorsulfuron, Conquest Encore 240, atrazine, and simazine, among others. See the Tank Mixtures section on the label for full compatibility details.

Features & Benefits

  • Non-selective knockdown across annual and perennial weeds: Knockout 450 controls a wide spectrum of problem weed species, including Annual Ryegrass, Couch, Johnson Grass, Sowthistle, Capeweed, Scotch Thistle, Sorrel, and Skeleton Weed, among many others.
  • No residual soil activity: The formulation leaves no carryover in the soil, so you can sow virtually any crop as early as one day after application on light weed infestations.
  • Translocated Group M action: Glyphosate is absorbed through foliage and green stems and moves into the root system, killing the whole plant, including the root base.
  • Flexible application methods: Apply by ground (25-100L/ha spray mix), aerial (max 3.2L/ha), or wiper equipment, making it practical across large and small-scale operations.
  • Wide tank-mix compatibility: Partners with 2,4-D Ester, Dicamba 200g/L, metsulfuron methyl, chlorsulfuron, Conquest Encore 240, atrazine, simazine, and registered insecticides for broader or residual control programs.
  • Surfactant-responsive formulation: Adding Conquest Wetter 1000 at 200mL/100L spray mix improves efficacy at high water rates or where coverage may be limited.
  • Multiple use situations: Registered for use in crop establishment, pasture renovation, sorghum pre-harvest, forestry, dry drains, rights of way, and commercial or industrial weed management.
  • Available in bulk formats: Pack sizes from 20L through to 1000L IBC suit both farm-scale and contractor use.

Directions Of Use

Click here for Knockout 450 Herbicide directions for use.

Knockout 450 Herbicide is a non-selective, translocated herbicide. It controls most emerged annual and perennial weed species by absorbing through foliage and green stems and moving into the root system. Apply when weeds are actively growing. Do not treat stressed, dormant, dusty, or frost-affected weeds, as reduced control will result. For annual weeds, symptoms appear within 3 to 7 days. For perennials, allow 2 to 3 weeks or longer in cool, cloudy conditions. Dilute in clean water, add a non-ionic surfactant such as Conquest Wetter 1000, and apply via ground (25-100L/ha), aerial (max 3.2L/ha), or wiper equipment. Use only in plastic, fibreglass, rubber, aluminium, brass, copper, or stainless-steel tanks and equipment. Do not use galvanised or unlined steel tanks.

General Use Rate:

Annual Weeds:

  • Knapsack: 60 – 80mL per 15L of water (4mL – 5.4mL per 1Litre of Water)
  • Handgun: 400 – 560mL per 100L of water
  • Boom: 1.6 – 2.4L/ha

Perennial Weeds:

Questions and answers from customers

What is the shelf life of Knockout 450 Herbicide?

  1. Q What is the shelf life of Knockout 450 Herbicide?
Asked by Jim on May 7, 2024 5:42 pm
    A

Knockout 450 Herbicide does not have a best-before or expiry date. However, the manufacturer recommends that the best practice is to use it within an approximate 5-year period from the date of manufacture. Correct storage away from direct sunlight in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area will help maximise the product's shelf life.

Once a glyphosate concentrate herbicide is mixed with water, it should be used within 24 hours for best results. After this time, the mixture's effectiveness 'may' start to decrease, and the herbicide 'may' become less potent. To the best of our knowledge, no additives can be added to the pre-mixed solutions that extend their shelf life.

There is  an Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority permit PER11463 registering the use of glyphosate on bamboo as a cut stump method.  Rate of application is 1L per 6L water (Glyphosate 360g/L) - cut stems back to 20cm high and immediately pour herbicide the hollow stem and wet the cut.  Flupropanate is also registered under permit to control bamboo, however is currently unavailable.

Tips For Use

Restraints:

  • Do not apply under weather conditions, or from equipment that may cause drift onto crops, desirable plants, pastures, or cropping land.
  • Do not apply to weeds growing in or over water. Do not spray across open bodies of water.
  • Do not allow water back into channels or dry drains within 4 days of application.
  • Do not use in crops other than as specifically stated on the label.
  • Do not mix or store in galvanised steel or unlined steel containers.

General Instructions:

  • Treat weeds when actively growing. Do not treat stressed, dormant, dusty, waterlogged, frosted, or insect-damaged weeds.
  • For the best knockdown, spray early when weeds are young and actively growing.
  • Rain within 6 hours of application may reduce effectiveness. Rain within 2 hours may require a repeat treatment.
  • Do not disturb treated weeds by cultivation, grazing, or sowing for at least 1 day after treating annual weeds, or 7 days after treating perennial weeds.

Mixing Instructions:

  • Start with a half-filled tank of clean water. Avoid turbid or hard water containing calcium salts, as these may reduce activity.
  • Add tank-mix partners first (if using), then Knockout 450, then top up with water. Add non-ionic surfactant near the end of filling.
  • Use the tank mix within 5 days. Activity will gradually decline after mixing.
  • Thoroughly rinse tanks, pumps, lines, and nozzles with clean water after each use to prevent corrosion.

Surfactant Addition:

Use one of the following non-ionic wetting agents per 100L of spray mix:

Compatibility:

Knockout 450 may be tank-mixed with: 2,4-D Ester, Avadex BW, Dicamba 200g/L, metsulfuron methyl, chlorsulfuron, Conquest Encore 240, atrazine (flowable or granular) plus ammonium sulphate, simazine (flowable or granular) plus ammonium sulphate. Registered insecticides include Dimethoate, Imidan, Le-Mat, Lorsban 500, and Perfekthion EC 400. Read and follow all label directions for tank-mix products.

Protection of Crops, Native and Other Non-Target Plants:

Knockout 450 is a non-selective herbicide. Direct contact or drift may cause severe injury or destruction of any crop, desirable plant, or tree. Avoid all contact with foliage, green stems, or fruit of non-target species.

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans and the Environment:

Do not contaminate dams, rivers, or streams with this product or used containers. Do not apply to weeds growing in or over water. Do not spray across open bodies of water.

Protection of Livestock:

  • A withholding period for stock is not required. However, delay grazing of treated plants for 1 day after annual weed treatment, or 7 days where perennial weeds are present, to allow full absorption of the product.
  • Do not allow stock to graze treated areas until complete browning has occurred where naturally toxic plants such as Soursob or Variegated Thistle are present.

Storage:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
  • Do not store in galvanised steel or unlined steel containers.

Safety Directions:

  • This product irritates the eyes and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When preparing the product for use, wear elbow-length PVC gloves and a face shield or goggles. After use and before eating, drinking, or smoking, wash hands, arms, and face thoroughly with soap and water. Wash gloves, face shield or goggles, and contaminated clothing after each day’s use. When using a controlled droplet applicator, wear protective, waterproof clothing and impervious footwear.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
  • For further information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

This information and product advice are not intended as advice or recommendations for any specific use or circumstance. You should seek specialist advice before using any product. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines. Specialist Sales liability is limited.

Withholding Period

Withholding Period Details (WHP):

  • Not applicable when used as directed.

Note: While no formal withholding period for stock applies, it is recommended that grazing of treated annual weeds be delayed for 1 day, and 7 days where perennial weeds are present, to ensure full product absorption. Where naturally toxic plants are present (such as Soursob or Variegated Thistle), do not allow grazing until complete browning of treated plants has occurred.
